Vintage orientalist nude oil painting portrait snake charmer female reproduction
Vintage oil painting snake charmer portrait female semi nude orientalist Arte Nouveau Belle Époque golden age Art Deco exotic harem painting Egyptian revivalism scarab necklace large ornate gilt wood frame linen trim. This wonderful reproduction oil painting on canvas depicts semi nude female snake handler with two snakes, scarab necklace, gold arm band bracelet and waist skirt with gold adornment and headband. Her long black hair flows over her back and arms. She is an homage to Egyptian revivalism popularized at the turn of the century. The person who I bought from bought it from an estate where the owner indicated the painting is from the 1940s. May not be that old. The painting appears to be older than the frame. Regardless, it is a very nice subject matter and well done.
Signature bottom left corner : L Anderson but is after the original by Frances Bramley Warren Born c. 1910 - British - Years active 18891901. It is a very good reproduction and it is paint not board.
Title: Egyption girl with snake. Some crackling and small 1/2 dollar size puckering in one spot visible from one angle. Minor spots where paint is missing but easily retouchable or leave as is Wood frame and linen trim in great shape. Minor blemish to one corner of frame not noticeable and bottom discoloring spots to bottom of frame not readily noticeable either unless looking up at the bottom of frame. Estimated total Dimensions 41 x 31. Bought in Miami in 2019 with no known provenance or certificate otherwise.
